At Averis, we remain committed to sustainability and giving back. We've embraced the principles of reducing, reusing, and recycling to do our part in conserving planet earth. Last year, we hosted a memorable Pre-Loved Party, showcasing the wonders of recycling and repurposing, proving that every item deserves a second chance.
This year, we’re continuing this momentum by focusing on sustainability and building eco-conscious habits among Averians. We believe that small actions can start at the workplace, making a lasting impact. Here’s a recap of what we’ve been up to, in the name of sustainability.
Environmental Stewardship
We launched our BYOC (Bring Your Own Container) campaign. This initiative encourages employees to bring their own food containers and cutleries, significantly reducing single-use plastic waste. Thanks to the enthusiastic support of Averians, we've achieved a remarkable 70% reduction in plastic waste. This habit has become second nature for many, with employees consistently bringing their own containers to employee engagement events and even for takeaway meals.
Additionally, we organised another pre-loved sale, by popular demand, to promote the value of giving items a second life. These events were designed to encourage thoughtful consumption by inspiring employees to sell or donate unwanted items rather than discarding them irresponsibly. Through these initiatives, we aim to promote the culture of mindful living.
Quality
We strongly believe in the power of quality education. As part of our CSR commitment for 2024, we’ve partnered with Teach For Malaysia, a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing quality education to underserved communities. This partnership reflects our belief that education is the key to breaking cycles of poverty and creating a brighter future for generations to come.
In addition, we’ve raised funds through book and pre-loved sales to support children from B40 communities. These efforts ensure that children who need it most can access the education they deserve, helping to bridge the gap and provide equal opportunities for all.
Buy Nothing Project
The Buy Nothing Project (BNP) is an internal community channel, allowing Averians to gift unused items to others who need them. Instead of disposing of these items, they’re given a second chance to serve a new owner—turning one person’s trash into another’s treasure.
The project has fostered a sense of connection among Averians, enabling them to give away items in good condition or request what they need. It’s not just about reducing waste; it’s about building a strong, supportive community where every small act of sharing makes a big difference.
‘Steps Towards Quality Education’ Charity Walk
The 'Steps Towards Quality Education' Charity Walk combined sustainability, fitness, and ‘giving back’ into one meaningful initiative. Organised to support Teach For Malaysia’s mission, the event raised both awareness and funds for quality education.
Participants embraced the opportunity to walk for a cause, knowing that every step taken contributed to reducing carbon emissions and promoting healthier lifestyles. Beyond personal fitness, the walk symbolised a collective effort towards meaningful change. By coming together, Averians showcased the power of community action in creating a brighter, more sustainable future.
Conclusion
As we reflect on 2024, it shows that sustainability and giving back are more than just buzzwords—they’re at the heart of what we do at Averis. From instilling eco-friendly habits to supporting education for underserved communities, we take our role in driving positive change seriously.
As we step into 2025, we remain committed to expanding these efforts, proving that small actions can indeed create a ripple effect of goodness. Together, we can build a healthier planet and a more compassionate world, one initiative at a time.
