Meet Noor ’Atiqah, or “Atiq” as most people know her. She's someone who thrives on exploring diverse hobbies, tackling new challenges, and constantly seeking growth in both her personal and professional life. Read on to learn more about the experiences that shaped her and the valuable lessons she’s gathered along the way.
- Hi there! Tell us what makes you uniquely you?
G’day, I'm Noor 'Atiqah, but most people call me “Atiq”. I’m 28 years old and hail from Rawang.
What makes me “uniquely me” is my love for a mix of hobbies that keep life exciting. You’ll often find me enjoying various sports, travelling to new places, or trying out new activities that challenge my mind. When I’m not busy, I’m most likely curled up with a great book.
Life is short, and I believe it’s the perfect opportunity to embrace new experiences and keep discovering what sparks joy in me.
- You were recently invited to your secondary school to give a talk. Can you share a little bit more about it?
I had the privilege of being invited back to my secondary school to speak with the new intake of pre-university students. It was a fantastic opportunity to offer inspiration and practical advice as they embark on this important chapter of their educational journey.
In my view, the pre-university period is a time for exploration, growth, and laying the foundation for the future. During the event, I shared my own experiences, including how I became the highest scorer in my school for STPM. I also offered tips on managing time effectively, staying focused on goals, and putting in the best effort to achieve success.
- How did you feel about being invited back to your secondary school? Do you think you played a role in inspiring your juniors?
I was thrilled to contribute to my school once again, even if only for a short time. By sharing stories of my successes during university and in my professional life, I hope I managed to motivate them and reassure them that everything will work out as long as they give their best in everything they do.
- What has your biggest achievement been to date?
For me, achievements are subjective. I find the greatest satisfaction in accomplishing what truly matters to me, whether it’s related to travel, work, or even my social life.
- Is there anything about you that might surprise someone who’s just met you?
Although I enjoy trying different hobbies and sports, the one I’m most passionate about is archery. I don’t just practise it—I also teach the fundamentals of traditional archery in classes I conduct.
I can say that this hobby was something I discovered by chance, and it quickly sparked my interest to learn more. As a result, I even took part in several tournaments, representing my archery club.
Archery is for everyone, whether children or adults! While I’m currently taking a break from the archery world, I’m committed to deepening my knowledge and returning to teaching with renewed dedication.
- What's the most surprising thing you learned about yourself while working at Averis?
By handling inquiries and serving as the first point of contact for employees and HR, I’ve trained myself to always be ready to assist others. This has naturally led me to adopt a solution-oriented mindset when addressing issues, including in my daily life.
I’ve found that even when faced with unexpected obstacles or changes, the key is to adjust my approach, stay positive, and focus on finding solutions. This adaptability has not only helped me navigate difficult situations but also boosted my confidence in handling future uncertainties.
- If you could have any superpower for a day, what would it be and how would you use it for work?
If I had the power, I would wish for the ability to self-replicate so I could handle multiple tasks simultaneously. This would also mean having many more opportunities to gain additional knowledge in my daily work.
- If our office had a theme song that played every time you walked in, what would it be and why?
For some reason, the one that comes to mind would be 'Ku Bahagia' by Melly Goeslaw. Perhaps it’s because youth only comes around once—so let’s make the most of it and savour every moment!
- What's your secret to staying confident? Any advice for readers out there who are struggling with their self-esteem?
My way of staying confident is by being well-prepared regularly. When we understand and control what we're doing, others won’t notice how we feel inside. Always maintain self-belief and, most importantly, adopt a confident body language! Stand tall, make eye contact, and speak with assurance. This can positively influence both how you view yourself and how others perceive you.
